EFCC Continues Investigation on Sadiya’s Alleged N37bn Fraud

Ex-minister Sadiya Umar-Farouq returned home on Monday night following a 12-hour long questioning by anti-graft agents on Monday. He is anticipated to continue questioning on Tuesday at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.
An investigation is underway into the former Minister of Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs on the purported N37.1 billion laundering.
She had responded to the call to provide explanations on some matters that the Commission is looking into by showing up at the EFCC’s Jabi Headquarters on Monday at around 10:18 a.m.
The EFCC interrogators and the former minister had a lengthy conversation. She was permitted to go home after the Monday session, which concluded at approximately 10.30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Sadiya is scheduled to come back in order to provide additional details on various matters that the Commission brought to light during its initial inquiries.
In the meantime, Betta Edu, Sadiya’s replacement, is anticipated at the EFCC headquarters on Tuesday in relation to an untidy disbursement controversy under investigation by the anti-graft agency.
