Election: Corps Members to Refrain from Accepting Bribes During election

Ahead of the forthcoming election, the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed over 200,000 corps member and has warned the corps members to refrain from accepting bribes while carrying out their duties as temporary election workers on the day of the election.

 

Brig.-Gen. Yusha’u Ahmed,The director general of the NYSC, gave this warning while speaking to reporters on Tuesday at the launch of a distress call centre (DCC) for corps members who will work as ad hoc workers .

 

The director general warned that corrupt corps members would be dealt with and he assured them that the elections will be safe for the corps members.

 

The NYSC director-general explained that the distress centre will notify security professionals of any threat.

 

He stated that the centre was established to improve the security and protection of corps members and provided an emergency number, which is 6972, for corps members to call when under threat.

 

When the centre receives a call from a corps member, Ahmed added, the NYSC will find out the caller’s problem and whereabouts and notify security personnel.

 

He said: “Those participating in this election have been trained, guidelines are given, and they are informed and willing to give their best also, I met with security agencies. Every hand is on deck to make sure corps members are safe.
