Engr. Wole Ogunsanya Appointed to NCDMB Governing Council

In a significant move to strengthen the Nigerian oil and gas sector, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of four new members to the Governing Council of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). Among the new appointees is Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, who will represent the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN).

The announcement, made on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, aims to fill key vacancies and bolster the board’s capacity to enhance local content development in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

Engr. Ogunsanya, who serves as Chairman of PETAN, brings over 30 years of extensive experience in the oil industry to his new role. He has held various positions, including Field Engineer with Schlumberger Worldwide and Country Operations Manager, showcasing a breadth of expertise that is expected to greatly benefit the NCDMB.

The other appointees include Mr. Olusegun Omosehin from the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mazi Sam Azoka Onyechi of the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum (NCCF), and Barrister Owei Oyanbo from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The appointments come in the wake of previous institutional representatives transitioning out of the Governing Council. President Tinubu has expressed confidence in the expertise and dedication of the new members, urging them to leverage their skills to promote and enhance local content within the industry.

The NCDMB Governing Council operates under Section 69 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act of 2010, comprising representatives from key institutions such as the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), among others.

With his wealth of experience and leadership within PETAN, Engr. Wole Ogunsanya is poised to play a crucial role in driving the objectives of the NCDMB and supporting the growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
