Enugu State Takes Action Against Unqualified Medical Practitioner Endangering Public Safety.

The Enugu State Ministry of Health has taken decisive action against illegal medical practices by arresting a fake doctor and sealing an unlicensed hospital in Obollo-Etiti, Udenu Local Government Area. The operation was conducted to address concerns over public safety and ensure the enforcement of health regulations.
According to a statement released by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Ugodu Avemaria, the operation was spearheaded by the Commissioner for Health, Prof. George Ugwu. During the raid, authorities uncovered alarming evidence of the facility’s unsanitary and unfit conditions, raising serious concerns about patient safety.
The suspect, identified as Mr. Kenneth Mamah, was operating a facility called St. Joseph Memorial Hospital located in Ada-ulo Obollo-Etiti Community. The enforcement team acted on credible intelligence and complaints from local residents about suspicious medical activities at the site. Upon inspection, they found that Mamah had been performing surgical procedures within his consulting room and conducting other medical practices in an environment that was grossly unhygienic and inappropriate for any form of operative care.
Further investigation revealed that Mr. Mamah was not a licensed medical practitioner. He lacked any professional training and had no authorization from the state ministry of health to operate as a medical doctor. Despite this, he routinely performed surgical operations, putting the lives of unsuspecting patients at grave risk.
The ministry’s action underscores its commitment to safeguarding public health and cracking down on illegal medical practices. The illegal hospital has been sealed, and the fake doctor is in custody, pending further investigation. Authorities warn residents to verify the credentials of healthcare providers and report any suspicious activities to prevent unqualified individuals from endangering lives.
