Family Appeals for Release of Detained Community Leader Amid Ogun Obaship Crises

The family of Mr. Dauda Omolade, a community leader embroiled in the recent obaship crises in Agosasa community, Ogun State, seeks intervention from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and Governor Dapo Abiodun for his release. Mr. Omolade, aged 74, was picked up by the police last week and is reportedly being held incommunicado at the Idiroko Division.
According to Omotoso Omolade, one of Mr. Omolade’s children, his father’s detention is shrouded in mystery, with no clear reason provided for his arrest. Allegations have surfaced that those fueling the obaship disputes have been shielded from consequences, prolonging the unrest in the community.
Despite efforts to ascertain Mr. Omolade’s whereabouts and secure his release, the family has faced obstacles, with inquiries to the Idiroko Police Station yielding no results. They appeal to various authorities and organizations, including the Ogun State Government, the Inspector General of Police, and human rights activists, to intervene and ensure the release of Mr. Omolade, emphasizing his innocence in the ongoing disputes.
Efforts to reach the police for comment were unsuccessful as calls to the police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, went unanswered.
