Federal Government declares public holidays on Friday and Monday for Easter festivities

The Federal Government has announced that Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, will be public holidays in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday.

 

This announcement was made by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, on Tuesday. He highlighted the significance of embracing the values of sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ, whose death is viewed as a means of redemption for humanity, while extending warm wishes to Christians celebrating this joyous occasion.

 

In a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, the minister urged Nigerians to utilize the holiday to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and stability. He reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, focused on promoting national growth and development.

 

Moreover, the minister encouraged citizens to show kindness and generosity to their neighbors during this festive period. He wished all Christians a joyful Easter celebration and sent heartfelt holiday greetings to all Nigerians, according to the statement
