The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was a memorable night for Nollywood, with Femi Adebayo’s film Seven Doors emerging as a top winner by securing two major awards—Best Lead Actor for Femi Adebayo and Best Lead Actress for Chioma Chukwuka—highlighting its status as one of the standout productions of the year.
Seven Doors is a Nigerian historical drama series directed by Femi Adebayo, Adebayo Tijani, and Tope Adebayo. The story centers on King Adedunjoye, a reluctant ruler whose reign is overshadowed by a generational curse. To break free from the curse, he must marry six more wives—symbolically opening “seven doors”—despite his deep love for his wife, Amaka. The series delves into themes of tradition, sacrifice, and destiny.
The awards ceremony, held on Saturday night, also honored industry veterans Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Additionally, director Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award for his innovative, genre-defying contributions to African cinema.
Held on May 10, 2025, the 11th AMVCA celebrated excellence in African film and television, bringing together the continent’s brightest stars and industry professionals. Throughout the evening, awards were announced across various categories, showcasing the incredible talent and creativity within the African entertainment industry.
