FG Approves Recruitment of Over 30,000 Into Civil Service, Cautions Job Seekers Against Scammers
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has issued a warning to Nigerian job seekers to be cautious of fraudsters circulating false information about recruitment into the paramilitary services.
In a statement released on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Abuja, the Board’s Secretary, retired Major General A.M. Jibril, revealed that a fake letter is being shared on social media, falsely claiming to provide details about the recruitment exercise.
Jibril confirmed that President Bola Tinubu has approved the hiring of 30,150 new intakes for the four paramilitary services, as well as 209 workers for the Board’s secretariat. but noted that the recruitment has not yet started.
Continuing, he explained that the Board is currently seeking approval to shorten the usual six-week advertisement period in newspapers to three weeks, to speed up the recruitment process.
He stressed that when recruitment officially begins, it will be clearly announced in well-known national newspapers. The process will be free, fair, and transparent.
Here is the number of new recruits approved for each service:
Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS): 5,150
Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS): 10,000
Federal Fire Service (FFS): 10,000
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC): 5,000
CDCFIB Secretariat: 209
The Board urged Nigerians not to fall for scams or pay anyone for recruitment. It also advised people to report anyone asking for money or sharing fake job offers.
The Board promised to remain fair and honest in all its recruitment exercises.
The CDCFIB encouraged interested applicants to stay informed by following official announcements and not rely on unverified social media posts.
The Board emphasized that recruitment into any of the paramilitary services will be transparent, well-organized, and open to all qualified Nigerians.
As anticipation builds for the official launch, it urged the public to remain patient and alert.
The Board assured that once the necessary waiver is secured and the recruitment advert is approved, the process will commence promptly and adhere strictly to established procedures.
