Flood Disrupts Routine of Ogun State Residents
Heavy rainfall that started on Wednesday night till the early hours of Thursday has caused flooding in the Gateway Sparklight Estate area in Ogun State, leaving residents and business owners stranded.
The flood took over the main road that connects the estate to the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, making it impossible for motorcyclists, car owners, and pedestrians to pass through. The rainfall has caused many shop owners along the side of the road to lose their goods, as the water level reached at least half the heights of the shops.
Many residents of the area complained that such flooding had occurred before, and even led to the death of a young man a few years ago. The bad road has impeded the attempt of the residents to better their own lives, and they are appealing to the government to construct a bridge along that area.
The residents are also calling on the government to take urgent action to address the issue and protect their lives and properties.
