Four Apprehended For Theft in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested four individuals for separate theft incidents in the state.

In the first incident, Bamidele Ogunbowale, a 30-year-old man, was apprehended on Sunday at 3:30 pm in the Atan-Ijebu area for allegedly stealing a motorcycle worth N630,000. The motorcycle’s owner, Olakunle Olagoke, had reported the incident after Ogunbowale failed to make instalment payments.

According to the state command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, Ogunbowale had attempted to purchase the motorcycle with a promise of instalment payments. However, after acquiring the vehicle, he severed all contact with Olagoke, prompting the owner to report the incident to the police.

Efforts to locate Ogunbowale had previously failed, but he was eventually tracked and arrested by the men of Atan Divisional Police headquarters on Sunday. During interrogation, Ogunbowale confessed to the alleged crime, revealing that he had sold the motorcycle and used the proceeds for personal gain.

In a separate incident, Edet Esin, Comfort Esin, and Victor Edet were arrested for breaking into a two-bedroom apartment in the Warewa area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government. The trio allegedly stole electrical installations, including cables and solar panels, as well as an HP laptop belonging to the apartment owner, Olabosipo Olasehinde.

According to Odutola, the suspects had earlier been charged in court for allegedly vandalizing the same building. However, after their release, they conspired amongst themselves to steal the aforementioned items. The suspects have confessed to their crimes and will be charged to court after a thorough investigation.

The police have begun a thorough investigation into both incidents, ensuring that all aspects of the crimes are examined. The court has adjourned the case until October 10, 2024.
