Four Feared Dead in Renewed Cult Clashes in Ogun State
A renewed clash between rival cult groups, Eiye and Aye, in Ogun State has left at least four people dead. The violence erupted simultaneously in the Alogi, Somorin, and Obantoko areas on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses report that the clashes began when Eiye group members attacked and killed a member of the Aye group, prompting a retaliatory attack that claimed the life of an Eiye member.
While the exact number of casualties is unclear, eyewitnesses confirm that multiple lives were lost in the violence. One eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the scene:
“I witnessed cultists on a rampage in the Aregbe area, shooting sporadically. At least four people were killed in the clash.”
Another source claimed that only two people were killed in the violence.
The cult clashes have raised concerns about the growing violence and insecurity in the region. The police have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
