Friends of Ronzls Foundation Celebrates, Rewards 4th Edition Quiz and Spelling Bee Rising Stars

The Friends of Ronzls Foundation founded by Mrs. Ola Sulaimon hosted the grand finale of its 4th edition quiz and spelling bee competition on 9th of July 2024 at one of St. John’s hall Ijokun, bringing together bright minds(students), proud parents, dedicated teachers and distinguished guests, including His Majesty, Oba Musiliu Soile, the Radanuwa of Idado, guest speaker, Dr. Royhaan Folarin of the Department of Anatomy, Olabisi Onabanjo University, for an exciting day of intellectual competition.

The Radanuwa of Idado, Oba Oriyomi Musliu Soile ,the Royal Father of Friends of Ronzls during his word of encouragement to the children also made a donation of 100,000 Naira to be given to the pupils that won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize.

The competition, which started with 48 schools in the preliminary rounds, ran from May 9th to May 12th with the Grand Finale scheduled for today, July 9th. As of today, 12 participants took part in the competition, all from different schools. The 12 rising stars actively competed in different categories of quizzes and spelling questions, showcasing their knowledge and skills in a thrilling display of academic excellence.

The competition format and rules were expressly spelt out and straightforward as each participant was to go on 10 rounds of questioning categorically from Science, ICT, English and more. Each of the participants were judged and awarded points fairly by the judges. Likewise, It is noteworthy that all participants was provided with a comfortable environment in which they could express themselves liberally.

Furthermore, after a keenly contested round, three pupils eventually emerged winner of the 4th edition of the annual quiz and spelling bee competition courtesy Friends of Ronzls Foundation. The 1st position, Wusu Anuoluwapo from Ansar Ur deen Pry Sch, Makun bagged a total of 100 out of 100 points, closely followed by the first runner-up, Adekomaya Bamidele from St. Collumciles Catholic Nur. & Pry, Offin, Sagamu who boasts a total of 95 point out of 100 and lastly, the second runner-up, Osho Oluwademilade from St. Paul School, Alagbo finished with a total of 90 points.

The guest speaker, Dr. Royhaan Folarin, spoke on the theme for this year’s competition, The Rising star, explaining how the children can be a rising star and how it would benefit them in the future.

There were moments of surprises as schools which referred to themselves as local because they were from the outskirts of Sagamu, but Mrs Sulaimon recounted that during the preliminary, children from such schools did extremely well.

Moreover, Mrs. Ola Sulaimon gave a speech after the rounds of quiz. And this was preceded by a moment of appreciation to both teachers and pupils. All the students present got a gift and a certificate of participation handed to them, teachers and supporters of the foundation were also recognized for their notable contribution by presenting them an award. Notably, the first position went home with a hundred thousand Naira(#100,000), a school bag, an award, and lots more. The second position was rewarded with a sum of sixty thousand Naira (#60,000) with several gifts and the third position went home with a sum of forty thousand Naira and gifts as well. However, the cash prize is to appreciate the pupils and Mrs. Ola Sulaimon layed emphasis on the parents using the money for the pupils and not for their personal interests. She said, “Buy something extremely nice for them so that they’ll remember today for good, the cash prize is not for the school, and it’s definitely not for the parents”.

As the quiz saw it end and every pupil informed of his fate, The winners made no delay in saying a big thank you to Friends of Ronzls Foundation for the initiative. Teachers, Parents and even distinguished guests couldn’t stop singing the praises of Friends of Ronzls Foundation.
