FRSC Aims to Reduce Accident Rate in Ogun State

Following the recent increase in accident rate, the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr. Anthony Uga, said in an interview on Monday in Ota, that the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, determines to lower road crashes on the highway in the state, with the use of a radar gun technology.

As to his statement, the state would significantly decrease traffic accidents by utilizing the radar gun, which tracks the velocity of cars. He then said the command’s intention was to start retraining its staff on how to use the device properly.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) announced in January that Ogun State had 893 traffic accidents in 2023, with 351 fatalities and 2,092 injuries.

Speeding is the primary cause of car crashes, according to the FRSC sector commander, who warned drivers against speeding in his Monday speech.

According to Mr. Uga, “The FRSC has already acquired the radar gun and it will soon be calibrated and put into use to track speeding vehicles.

“We want to caution motorists against speeding and urge them to adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations, as any erring driver will face the wrath of the law.”

Uga said the FRSC would embark on advocacy visits to churches, mosques and motor parks on the dangers of speeding.
