Victor Osimhen once again proved crucial as Galatasaray secured their 25th Turkish Super Lig title with a commanding 3-0 home win over Kayserispor. The Nigerian striker’s goal extended his league tally to 25 this season, reinforcing his status as one of the top scorers in the league.
Osimhen’s outstanding season saw him become the foreign player with the most goals in a single campaign for Galatasaray, scoring 35 goals across all competitions. Alongside Osimhen’s opener, Barış Alper Yılmaz and veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, who converted a penalty in his final home appearance, also found the net.
This victory is historic for Galatasaray as they became the first Turkish club to earn the symbolic fifth star, marking 25 league titles. The club also completed a domestic double, having won the Turkish Cup earlier in the season, where Osimhen played a key role by scoring twice in the final.
With two games remaining, Galatasaray leads the table with 89 points, while their rivals Fenerbahçe, coached by José Mourinho, trail with 81 points, unable to close the gap.
Osimhen’s future at Galatasaray remains uncertain as he is currently on loan from Napoli, but the club’s supporters made their feelings clear during today’s match, unveiling a large banner urging him to stay, with the message: “Stay with us Osi, not because you have to, but because you want to.”
