The Grand Finale of the 2025 SUG Week at Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, held on Friday, June 27th, was a vibrant and unforgettable celebration of culture, creativity, and student excellence. The highlight of the day was the colourful and well-attended Ojude GAPOSA 2025, a cultural showcase honouring Yoruba heritage through traditional fashion, performances, and talent exhibitions.

 

The event opened with a welcome address by the SUG President, Comrade Balogun, who expressed his gratitude to the entire school community — teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students — for their support and cooperation throughout the academic session. His words were met with loud cheers from the enthusiastic audience, setting the tone for a day filled with pride, unity, and entertainment.

 

From the start, the energy on campus was contagious. Students stepped out in stunning Yoruba traditional attire, from majestic Agbada to elegant Iro and Buba, creating a vibrant display of culture on the red carpet. The red carpet segment was a major highlight, filled with interviews, photos, and fashion moments that celebrated identity and tradition.

 

The event featured electrifying performances by several guest artists and hypemen, who kept the crowd fully energized and engaged. Their presence contributed significantly to the lively atmosphere, drawing students and guests from other institutions who joined in the celebration.

 

A Trade Fair also took place during the event, showcasing the entrepreneurial talents of GAPOSA students. Various student vendors proudly displayed their products and services, reinforcing the importance of youth entrepreneurship within the academic community.

 

One of the main attractions of the day was the Talent Hunt and the Mr & Miss GAPOSA 2025 Beauty Pageant. The pageant featured contestants representing different departments, and it was judged by a panel led by the CEO of Ephezy Models and the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Adedayo Busari. The competition was not only about beauty but also intelligence, confidence, and cultural presentation.

All contestants brought their best to the stage, dazzling the crowd with elegance, eloquence, and cultural representation. Their confidence and stage presence made the contest a thrilling experience for everyone in attendance.

 

The event was exceptionally organized, with smooth coordination, high student participation, and an atmosphere that celebrated culture, unity, and creativity. Students not only dressed impressively but also carried themselves with pride, honouring the essence of Yoruba heritage.

 

Ojude GAPOSA 2025 was more than just an event — it was a powerful celebration of identity, student talent, and cultural pride. The SUG, under the leadership of Comrade Balogun, delivered a grand finale that will be remembered for its beauty, energy, and flawless execution. It remains a shining example of what student-led events can achieve when passion, purpose, and planning come together.
