Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel has described the demise of Justice Olukayode Olumuyiwa Somolu as a great loss to the members of the Bench, the legal profession, Ogun State and Nigeria in general.

In his condolence message on the passage of the former Judge in the Ogun State Judiciary, Senator Daniel said Nigeria has lost one of the finest, fairest and impartial judges and a great son of the State.

“I share in the pains of members of Justice Somolu’s immediate family, his colleagues on the Bench and Ogun State Judiciary, the government and people of Ogun State for whom he served meritoriously and impartially all through his career as a lawyer and later as a Judge.

“Justice Somolu and other members of his family were very close friends of our administration while I had the opportunity of serving the people of Ogun State as Governor between 2003 and 2011. They gave all support and served in different critical capacities during some difficult time.

I owe late Justice Somolu a debt of gratitude for his immense and invaluable advice some of which assisted in the modest successes widely acclaimed and credited to our administration.

My deep condolences to members of his immediate family, to the good people and government of Ogun State, and I pray that the good Lord will grant his repose eternal rest and strength for his family in this trying period.”
