GRAND FINALE OF REMO ATAPAKO DAY CELEBRATION HELD IN STYLE WITH AWARDS AND CORONATION CEREMONY

The bustling town of Sagamu witnessed a vibrant celebration today as the grand finale of the Remo Atapako Day 2025 took place at the premises of Methodist Comprehensive College, Ijoku, Sagamu. The event marked the culmination of a two-day rally organized by the Remo Plank Sellers Association, popularly known as Remo Atapako, aimed at fostering unity among plank sellers across the Remo division of Ogun State.

 

The atmosphere was festive and colorful as guests from far and wide gathered for the landmark occasion, which featured award presentations, cultural displays, and a coronation ceremony.

 

 

The event commenced with a warm welcome to dignitaries and traditional rulers, who came to show their support. Among the notable personalities in attendance were:

 

Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, the Radanuwa of Idado

 

Oba Dr. (Surv) Adetunji Amidu Osho, the Alaye-Ode of Ode Remo

 

Prince Adebayo Samsudeen Apelogun (Allrounder) – Represented

 

Hon. Adeniran Ademola Adeyinka (Sapele), member of OGHA

 

Several chiefs, elders, and respected leaders from across the Remo communities

 

The presence of these revered figures added a rich cultural and traditional touch to the event, underscoring the significance of unity and collaboration among the people of Remo.

 

Speaking at the event, leaders of the Remo Plank Sellers Association emphasized the central theme of the celebration: Unity Among Plank Sellers. The association, over the years, has played a critical role in not only organizing the timber trade in the region but also in promoting brotherhood, cooperation, and community development among its members.

“This is more than a trade union,” said one of the organizing committee members. “It is a platform for empowerment, mutual support, and preserving the cultural values of our people.”

 

A major highlight of the day was the recognition and presentation of awards to distinguished individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the growth of the association. Awards were presented in various categories, celebrating leadership, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and community service.

 

In a colorful turn of events, the coronation segment added a regal flair to the celebration, with symbolic installations that further tied the association to traditional institutions and local heritage.

 

To round off the celebration, guests were treated to electrifying musical performances by Omo Haruna Ishola and His Band, who serenaded the crowd with a medley of traditional and contemporary Yoruba music. The rhythm of the drums and the rich melodies brought many to their feet, dancing in celebration of culture, trade, and unity.

 

The Remo Atapako Day Grand Finale not only served as a unifying event for plank sellers but also showcased the enduring spirit of the Remo people. With strong support from traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and local artists, the event successfully highlighted the power of culture and commerce in strengthening community bonds.

As the curtains closed on the 2025 edition, many attendees expressed optimism and excitement for the continued growth and unity of Remo Atapako in the years to come.
