HAJJ 2025: Ogun State Govt Commences Inoculation, Medical Checkup For Prospective Pilgrims
The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (OGMPWB) has launched a vaccination and medical screening initiative for individuals planning to undertake the holy pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina. This initiative aims to ensure that all prospective pilgrims are in good health and fit for the journey.
During the kickoff event held at the Arcade Ground in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Alhaji Ajibola Taiwo, the Executive Secretary of the Board, highlighted the commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration to prioritizing the health of intending pilgrims as they prepare for Hajj.
“We are dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of our pilgrims, and this screening exercise is an essential part of that commitment,” Taiwo stated.
Dr. Mojeed Oloko, a member of the screening team, urged aspiring pilgrims to prioritize their health and adhere closely to the medical advice provided. He emphasized the importance of the screening and counseling process as vital components of a successful Hajj experience.
“There are diseases that can be prevented through vaccination, and our aim is to ensure that all pilgrims heading to Saudi Arabia this year have received the required vaccinations, in accordance with the guidelines set by Saudi authorities. We are also assessing the health status of each pilgrim,” Dr. Oloko explained.
He further elaborated on the significance of maintaining physical well-being as outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO). He noted that adults aged 40 to 45 and older often have health issues, and while having a health condition is not inherently problematic, it is crucial to be aware of one’s health status and to follow prescribed medical treatments.
“For pilgrims who may face one or two health challenges, we will provide guidance on managing their conditions to avoid complications during the Hajj,” he added.
Two intending pilgrims, Mr. Ajibade Mojeed and Mrs. Rauf Aminat, expressed their gratitude to the state government for organizing the medical screenings. They noted that the tests have greatly aided their mental and physical preparations for the pilgrimage.
