Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Motorcyclist in Ogun State

A tragic incident occurred along the Idofa-Imeko road in Ogun State, resulting in the death of Adeyemi Adeniyi, a motorcyclist. According to the Ogun State Police Command, a hit-and-run driver in an unregistered ash-colored Mazda 626 vehicle collided with Adeniyi’s motorcycle, causing fatal injuries.

The accident happened around 10:30 am near the Muslim Grammar School Imeko, when the Mazda driver, traveling from Imeko to Ilara, veered into the opposite lane and struck Adeniyi’s motorcycle, which was heading in the opposite direction. The driver fled the scene on foot, leaving behind the vehicle and the deceased.

Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident yesterday and attributed the cause to excessive speed by the Mazda driver. “The driver’s speeding led to the loss of control, resulting in the collision,” she stated.

Adeniyi was rushed to the General Hospital Imeko by a bystander, where he was pronounced dead. The police have commenced an investigation and towed the vehicle to the station for inspection by the motor traffic department.

The police are working to identify the fleeing driver and bring them to justice.
