HON. SOYOYE AKINYODE SOLOMON (SAWI) ATTENDS VALEDICTORY SESSION FOR RT. HON. ADEWUNMI ORIYOMI ONANUGA AND OTHER DECEASED MEMBERS OF THE 10TH ASSEMBLY
Hon. Soyoye Akinyode Solomon, popularly known as SAWI, was among the distinguished guests and mourners who attended the solemn valedictory session held at the hallowed chamber of the House of Representatives in Abuja in honour of Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga and other late members of the 10th National Assembly.
The ceremony, held on Tuesday 27th May, 2025, brought together lawmakers, government officials, party leaders, and sympathizers from across the nation to pay final respects to the deceased lawmakers who dedicated their lives to the service of their constituents and the Nigerian nation.
Hon. Soyoye, a respected grassroots mobilizer and political figure from Remo Federal Constituency, described the late Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga as a “dedicated and fearless representative” who served Remo-Land with distinction, courage, and compassion. He noted that her demise was not only a great loss to the constituency, Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, but to the entire Remo land and Nigeria at large.
“The valedictory session today was not just a ceremony but a moment of reflection on the immense sacrifices made by our lawmakers, especially my dear sister and leader, Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga. She was a shining example of principled leadership and integrity. Her legacy will continue to inspire those of us in public service,” Hon. Soyoye said during a media chat after the session.
The session featured emotional tributes, a minute of silence, and prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased lawmakers. Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, led the tribute and called for continued support for the families left behind.
Hon. Soyoye also used the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to preserving her legacy of empowerment, development, and inclusive governance in Remo land.
He called on fellow politicians and public office holders to emulate the virtues of the late Onanuga, describing her as “a woman of vision, courage, and uncommon dedication to duty.”
The valedictory service ended on a solemn note, with many attendees visibly moved by the atmosphere of unity and remembrance that pervaded the chamber.
