Hungry Nigerians Will Decide the Winner of the 2027 Presidential Election — Makinde

Hungry Nigerians Will Decide the Winner of the 2027 Presidential Election — Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has stated that the outcome of the 2027 presidential election will be decided by Nigerians who are struggling with hunger.

He made this remark on Wednesday in Ibadan, the state capital, during the official inauguration of the newly elected South-West zonal executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Makinde emphasized that it is the voices of the hungry and economically burdened citizens that will shape the direction of the 2027 elections.

Makinde while addressing the gathering, said the PDP is not bothered by the recent defection of some stalwarts.

He said that party will continue to identify with the Nigerian masses and their aspirations despite the gale of defection that has hit the party

Makinde charged members of the party not to be discouraged by recent defections from the party, noting that PDP remains the only party in Nigeria with very strong institutions.

“People have been asking us as leaders of this party that a lot of people are decamping, even governors, and some others are threatening to decamp and all of that. And they said, look, where is this party going?

“Well, I have good news. I said to the people that we will not be bothered until hunger has decamped to the ruling party, APC.

“The day hunger decamps, they should come and tell us and, then, we will know what to do. Because there is hunger in the land and majority of the people that are hungry would determine what 2027 would look like.

“So, don’t worry. Let any governor who wishes to decamp do so — we will remain with the Nigerian people.”
