In an exclusive interview, Agbaakin Olayinka Odufuwa, popularly known as Ogo Remo, provided deep insights into his identity beyond politics and his vision for the future of Remo Federal Constituency.

The lawyer, community leader, and political stalwart spoke extensively about his lifelong commitment to service, the need for progressive representation, and his plans to ensure Remo secures its rightful share of federal resources.

While many know him as Ogo Remo, a title he has earned through years of community service, Odufuwa emphasized that his leadership is built on tangible action rather than rhetoric. He described himself as a lawyer by profession, a community leader, a spiritual leader, and a leader to many youths in Remoland. According to him, his life’s journey is interwoven with the hopes, dreams, and challenges of the people, and his understanding of these challenges is rooted in lived experiences rather than mere theoretical knowledge.

He further described himself as a bridge-builder who believes that true progress can only be achieved through collaboration, listening, and understanding the needs of his constituents. He stated that he envisions a Remo where every child has access to quality education, where the healthcare system serves the people effectively, and where job opportunities flourish.

When asked about his suitability to represent the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections, Odufuwa confidently dismissed concerns about political heavyweights in the race, stating that as far as he is concerned, it is Ogo Remo and others. He outlined five key reasons why he stands out.

First, he highlighted his long-standing commitment to community development, youth empowerment, and grassroots initiatives, setting him apart from aspirants who are new to the scene. Secondly, he reiterated his deep understanding of the APC’s progressive agenda and his ability to effectively translate its policies into tangible benefits for Remo. Thirdly, he emphasized that his experience working within the community gives him a unique understanding of the pressing issues facing the constituency, including the need for improved infrastructure and economic opportunities. Fourthly, he pointed to his grassroots connections and reputation for integrity as key factors that make him a strong contender, stating that he has the strategic edge and the ability to mobilize support across the constituency. Lastly, he made it clear that he is seeking office not for personal gain but as an opportunity to be the people’s voice and to work tirelessly to improve lives.

Acknowledging the legacy of the late Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, Odufuwa promised to continue her unfinished legislative work while also addressing emerging challenges.

He described her as an exceptional representative and prayed for her soul, stating that her contributions to the constituency were significant and should not be forgotten. He committed to reviewing the bills she initiated, ensuring that those beneficial to Remo and Nigeria at large reach fruition. He assured that whatever is beneficial to the people of Remo would be pursued to completion in honor of her legacy.

Odufuwa also laid out a clear strategy to secure and manage federal resources for Remo. He pledged to engage with the House of Representatives’ Appropriations Committee to ensure that Remo’s needs are prioritized in the federal budget. Additionally, he plans to establish a Constituency Projects Implementation Monitoring Committee (CPIMC) to oversee the execution of federal projects and ensure transparency in their implementation. He also intends to focus on key sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure, working closely with traditional leaders and civil society organizations to address critical challenges and drive sustainable development.

He concluded by emphasizing that his vision for Remo’s representation is one of progress, inclusivity, and sustainable development. He stated that his commitment to the Remo Federal Constituency extends beyond politics, as it is a deeply personal commitment driven by love for the community and a burning desire to see it thrive.
