The Celebration Ceremony of the Aro of Idarika Kingdom took place on Saturday, 26th July 2025, at the prestigious Esther Olufunmilayo Hall, Ode Road,Iperu-Remo, Ogun State. The event was held in honour of High Chief Adekunle Azeez Oloyede, who had previously been conferred with the chieftaincy title of Aro of Idarika Kingdom on the 14th of November, 2024. While the title was officially bestowed last year, this ceremony marked his formal coronation — a richly symbolic and public celebration of his elevation within the traditional hierarchy of the kingdom.
The ceremony attracted a remarkable crowd from far and wide, uniting guests across communities, tribes, and professions in one grand celebration. Dressed in regal white and gold attires, the guests filled the venue with glamour and splendour, reflecting the pride and prestige of the Idarika Kingdom. The atmosphere was deeply cultural, featuring traditional drumming, dancing, praise-singing,that highlighted the significance of the Aro title.
Among the prominent dignitaries in attendance was His Royal Highness , Oba (Sir) Olugbenga J. Shomade, the Akufon of Idarika Kingdom, whose presence added royal distinction to the occasion.His attendance as the reigning monarch of the kingdom underscored the importance of the Aro title and the high esteem in which the new chief is held.
The event was further honoured by the presence of His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, who led a delegation of traditional rulers. Other notable kings included the Eleposo of Eposo, the Ebi of Idena, the Ologere of Ogere;Odogun of Ipoji and the Legunsen of Ilupeju who sent a representative,alongside several others. Their attendance demonstrated strong solidarity among Yoruba monarchs and reaffirmed the cultural unity of Remoland and its neighbouring communities.
Also gracing the ceremony were esteemed Oloris, Honourables, chieftains, and distinguished personalities from across Nigeria.
Political leaders, business executives, community elders, and cultural custodians came together to witness this historical moment in the life of High Chief Adekunle Azeez Oloyede and the Idarika Kingdom at large.
