Enugu Governor Peter Mbah Urges Residents to Revive Economy by Going About Their Businesses

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has tasked Strategic Police Managers to maintain peace and stability in the country ahead of the Democracy Day celebrations on June 12. The IGP called on the police to develop proactive mechanisms to control any threats that may arise, including the aftermath of the fuel subsidy removal and the emerging threat of industrial strike action. He stressed that all peaceful protests must be managed professionally to ensure the needed peace and stability of our democracy.

During a recent conference, the IGP commended the police for their achievements in the months of January to May, 2023, particularly the successful democratic transitioning of May 29, 2023. He urged the police to build on these achievements and develop proactive mechanisms for effective control of prevailing and projected threats across the country. The IGP emphasized the need for all hands to be on deck to maintain the needed peace and stability of our democracy.

As the country prepares for the Democracy Day celebrations, the police have been tasked with ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. The IGP has called on all officers to maintain the highest level of professionalism and ensure that all peaceful protests are managed professionally. The police have assured the public that they are ready to rise to the occasion and ensure that the country remains peaceful and stable during this period.
