Ikorodu City were in ruthless form on Thursday evening, dismantling Katsina United 6-0 in front of their home crowd at the Onikan Stadium.
The scoring started early in the 13th minute when Waliu broke free down the right and delivered a low cross into the box. Emmanuel Solomon was perfectly placed to slot it home and give the hosts the lead.
Things only got better from there. In the 36th minute, Solomon turned provider, slipping a perfectly weighted pass into the box for Shola Adelani, who rose highest to head in Ikorodu’s second goal of the evening.
After the break, Ikorodu didn’t let up. Ayomide Cole made a mockery of his marker in the 55th minute before squaring the ball to Tosin, who coolly finished to make it 3-0.
Cole then got in on the action himself in the 71st minute, finding the bottom corner after connecting with a delicious cross from Waliu, who was everywhere on the pitch.
The floodgates were fully open by the 81st minute when Oladimeji Dada scored his first goal for Ikorodu City, finishing off another pinpoint delivery from Waliu at the back post.
And just when it seemed the scoring spree was over, Ayomide Cole popped up again in the 86th minute with an absolute rocket to seal his brace and cap off a sensational performance.
The emphatic win not only delighted the home fans but also lifted Ikorodu City back into 4th place on the NPFL table, reigniting hopes for a strong finish this season.
