Pheelz tweeted that music should be enjoyed without constant competition, emphasizing that the comparison game damages the sound and culture. In response, Samklef claimed that the industry was more harmonious before Davido’s rise. He stated that during the era of Wizkid and Olamide, there was mutual respect, and the industry thrived on love and collaboration rather than rivalry.
According to Samklef, Davido’s entry marked a turning point, bringing in what he described as a “cultist mindset,” threats, and streaming fraud. He lamented that the industry, which was once fun and pure, became toxic after Davido’s emergence. Samklef explained that before Davido’s arrival, artists like Wizkid and Olamide maintained a friendly environment, free from competition and hatred.
His comments sparked mixed reactions among fans and industry insiders. Many criticized him for singling out Davido, arguing that blaming one artist for the decadence of the entire industry oversimplifies complex issues. Davido has not yet responded to the allegations.
