Iperu Development Association Electoral Committee Signs MOU with Candidates as Election Holds on Saturday

As preparation for the 25th May, 2024, election into the executive council of Iperu Development Association reaches a final stage, the electoral committee saddled with the responsibility of conducting the election, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the candidates, with a charge to all contestants, to see their aspiration as a call to service.
Speaking at a meeting held with the candidates at the Iperu Development Association secretariat on Tuesday, 21st May 2024, the Chairman of the electoral committee, Mr. Sakiru Sodipo, charged the contestants to see the election as a call to service.
He urged the candidates to comply with the electoral guidelines and abide by the contents of the signed memorandum.
He further implored them to prevail on their delegates to refrain from any form of violence, as this could lead to disqualification of candidates.
Sodipo announced that only the positions of Vice President and General Secretary shall be open to contest, as the other eleven offices are unopposed.
He wished the contestants the best of luck, as he charged those who shall eventually emerge to be magnanimous in victory, and that those who might not make it this time, can always get it some other time, urging them to see themselves as brothers, either win or lose.
Also speaking at the parley, a member of the committee, Otunba Adebayo Salami, reminded that all candidates must attend the exercise, regardless of being unopposed.
In his response to the concerns raised by some candidates, the electoral chairman, Sodipo, assured them of the committee’s readiness to conduct a free, fair, and credible election, that will be devoid of any electoral malpractice or administrative negligence.
The meeting had, in attendance, the Secretary of the committee, Mrs. Iyabo Jolaoso-Ajayi, and almost all the contestants.
The election is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 25th May 2024, at the IDA Plaza, Atenda, Iperu Remo, with accreditation of delegates starting at 10am.
