Iperu Remo Education Trust Scheme Management Board Launches Initiative to Boost Students’ Enrolment, Reduce Out-of-School Children

In a bid to increase students’ enrolment in public primary and secondary schools and reduce the number of out-of-school children, the Iperu Remo Education Trust Scheme Management Board has embarked on a novel initiative.

The board has partnered with religious leaders and faith-based organisations to promote education and learning in the community. This innovative approach recognises the significant influence that religious leaders wield within their communities, and by partnering with them, the education board aims to leverage their authority and reach to promote a culture of education and learning.

The board has visited churches and mosques to sensitise religious leaders and their congregations on the importance of education and to seek their support for the board’s programmes and activities. The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the board for its laudable intervention in the education sector and pledged to offer personal support towards its programmes. The response from the religious communities and faith-based organisations has been overwhelmingly positive, with many religious leaders pledging their support to promote education and encourage parents to enrol their children in school.

The education board’s efforts have also resonated with traditional worshippers, who have equally keyed into the board’s vision. The board Chairman, Mofopefoluwa Joseph, emphasized the importance of education in preserving the community’s cultural heritage during the last Isese Day Celebration. As the education board continues its outreach programme, there is a growing sense of optimism within the community. With the support of religious leaders, faith-based organisations, and all stakeholders, the board is confident of actualising its plans and achieving its goals while creating a brighter future for the children.

To achieve its objectives, the board has launched an endowment fund aimed at raising N100 million in the 2025 fiscal year. Out of this amount, N60 million will be spent on the board’s budget, while N40 million will be reserved as an endowment fund. The board intends to execute several projects and programmes, including creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning, promoting access to quality education, and collaborating with schools to implement projects and programmes that align with the educational needs of the community.
