Ipokia Boy to Akube Crooner
Known to the music industry and listeners as Dotman, Olatunji Oladotun Alade was born in Agosasa, Ipokia, Ogun state. Dotman composes, sings and raps in equal measure. His style is a fusion of hip hop and afro pop. His songs are mostly on different spheres of life, storytelling the issues of society, man, relationship, finance and many more. He is the CEO of 808 Recordz.
Dotman attended Abeokuta Grammar School and then proceed to study Physics Education in the University of Lagos where he bagged a degree in the same course. Inspired by King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti, Akon, 9ice and DaGrin, Dotman started putting one and two melody together, becoming a song writer. With his background and no knowledge on the usage of music instruments, Dotman defiled the odds striving out on music. He rapped during his time in university, winning the rap competition. From there, the sky became the starting point of his success.
However, Olatunji wanted to be different. He created his own style of music – the fusion of hip hop and afro pop. With his rap and fusion, the world welcome him when he dropped his rap melody, Yes Melo, before featuring the YBNL boss on the remix in 2015. Ever since then, he has managed to stay in the limelight. He got more recognition after he dropped Akube in 2016.
In 2016, he was featured on TooXclusive’s Artistes To Watch in 2017 and Vibe.ng’s 7 Breakthrough Acts To Watch Out For in 2017. True to these speculations, Dotman performed at Big Brother Naija’s Live Eviction Show in South Africa in January 2017. Luckily, Dotman was signed to the music label Labo Entertainment in 2020 to further promote his music career to a global level. Dotman returns to the role of a CEO pushing his craft forward with his record label.
He is most famous for his hit singles Yes Melo, Akube, My Woman, Afro Girl, Omoge, Awe, Frenemies, Enugbe, Till I Die, Feelings among others.
