Meet one of Nigerian screen maestro who recently became the pastor of a church; Jimmy Odukoya,
Presumably born on April 27, Jimmy is the son of Late Pastor Taiwo and Late Bimbo Odukoya of Fountain of Life Church. He had his primary and secondary education in Lagos State, Nigeria before moving to the United States of America where he bagged his first degree in Business Administration (advertising minor) from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later an MBA in Business Administration from the same school.
Jimmy grew up singing, dancing, and acting in church, which led to a passion for performing arts from a young age. His passion led him to have many great feat in both gospel music and acting. He became a Nollywood actor and musician who started his acting career in 2016 after featuring in ‘Baby Shower’; and within a short period of time, he became a rising lead actor in many Nollywood mood and also became a regular face on TV and Cinema Screens across Nigeria. Jimmy’s passion, versatility, and discipline led to his feature in the popular ‘Woman King’ as Oba Ade, an act that gave him a recognition in the Hollywood scene. Aside from acting, Jimmy is also a motivational speaker, dancer, and fitness enthusiast.
However, he has been in the ministry line since young age. While he was into the entertainment part of it, he grew into a fine pastor (though he didn’t accept fully). After his education in the states, he returned to Nigeria in 2010 and was made the assistant pastor of Church 3:16, The Youth Ministry of The Fountain of Life Church. In May 2019, Jimmy and Kemi, his wife started The CAVE; a safe place for people to come as they are to find God’s love while being transformed into their purpose and calling without fear of judgment or restriction of man-made doctrines. Jimmy is a gifted teacher and his sermons are full of insightful and practical ways to live a spirit-filled life here on earth.
He recently became the head pastor at Fountain of Life Church, after his father demise.
He has played one of the lead roles – Oba Ade – in Netflix’s ‘Woman King’ movie and has also been featured in movies like ‘Lifting the Veil’, ‘I am Nazzy’, and ‘Oga Pastor’, ‘Mambam’s Diamond’, ‘Crazy Grannies’, and ‘The Wait’ among others.
His acting career has enjoyed many recognition, such as Breakout Actor of the Year-Scream Awards 2020, Best Supporting Actor of the Year – City People Awards 2019, Best Actor in a Comedy – Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards 2018, Best New Comer Male – Zulu African Film Academy Awards 2018
