“Jude Ezenwafor Secures PDP Nomination for Anambra Governorship Election Set for November 2025”
Jude Ezenwafor has been chosen as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Anambra State governorship election, which is set for November 8, 2025. The primary election took place on Tuesday, April 8, at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, where Ezenwafor was the sole aspirant and was declared the winner.
Chijioke Onwubuya, the chairman of the state governorship election congress committee, announced that Ezenwafor received 798 ‘yes’ votes, with 26 ballots deemed invalid. He noted that out of 999 selected delegates, 853 were accredited for the primary.
“By the authority vested in me and in accordance with PDP regulations, I hereby declare Jude Ezenwafor as our candidate,” Onwubuya announced, emphasizing that the election process complied with the party’s constitution and electoral rules.
In his acceptance speech, Ezenwafor pledged to bring the PDP back to power in Anambra. “With your support, we will realize our dream. Although they say PDP is finished, I will show them otherwise. Our journey to Government House starts now,” he declared.
State PDP Chairman Chidi Chidebe referred to the party as revitalized and united, ready for a successful campaign, and noted that Anambra residents regret previously rejecting the PDP. “Many who once left our party have returned after facing disappointments elsewhere. The PDP remains Nigeria’s most inclusive platform, building the core governance structures of today,” Chidebe stated.
With Ezenwafor now at the helm as the party’s candidate, the groundwork has been laid for a competitive Anambra governorship election.
