Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, Terminate Appointments of Three Top Officials Over Misconduct

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has sacked three top officials, including the Commissioner for Agriculture, David Apeh, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Emergency Management, Danladi Isah-Yunusa, and Maryam Salifu, part-time chairperson of Kogi State Hotels and Tourism Board.

Although no reason was given for Mr Apeh’s sack, a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Ayoade-Arike, revealed that the governor approved the termination of his appointment with immediate effect. Ms Ayoade-Arike also said that Mr Isah-Yunusa and Ms Salifu were relieved of their appointments because of “misconduct”.

The sacking of the trio has come as a surprise to many, and it remains unclear what the implications will be for the state’s agriculture and emergency management sectors.
