Lagos, Ogun States Launch Landmark Insurance Schemes

Lagos and Ogun States in a commendable move towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), have launched comprehensive health insurance schemes, poised to revolutionize healthcare outcomes for their residents.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s executive order establishes mandatory social health insurance, aligning with the National Health Insurance Authority Act 2022. This initiative promises to safeguard the well-being of Lagosians by pooling resources, mitigating financial risks, and ensuring equitable access to quality medical services.

Similarly, Ogun State’s Governor Dapo Abiodun has unveiled a pioneering health insurance program catering to the formal sector, including civil servants, public servants, and workers in the organized private sector. This visionary scheme, backed by a N100 million counterpart fund, offers a 50% premium subsidy for enrolled workers.

Abiodun, who was represented by his Deputy, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said: “I hereby reassure all public servants that their well-being will remain a priority in the government’s development agenda, as demonstrated in our payment of a N100 million counterpart fund.”
