The Lagos State Police Command has detained three police inspectors following allegations of severe assault that left a 22-year-old man, Jacob Sunday, in a coma. The incident reportedly occurred at the 22 PMF Barracks in Ogudu on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, Inspector John Alom of 63 PMF Ikorodu, Inspector Sunday Adoga of CTU Base 2 Ikeja, and Inspector Jehovah Usam of 22 PMF Ikeja allegedly lured Jacob into their quarters around 6 pm. Once inside, they subjected him to brutal torture. Jacob is said to be the son of Inspector Sunday Ochepo.
The officers accused Jacob of having an affair with Sarah Richard, the wife of ASP Audu Richard, who also resides at the barracks. Following the allegations, the policemen reportedly stripped Jacob naked and beat him mercilessly until he lost consciousness. His condition was critical, prompting a rescue by detectives who quickly transported him to the Police College Cottage Hospital in Ikeja. He remains hospitalized in the emergency unit.
The police authorities confirmed the arrests of the three officers and stated they are in detention pending the results of ongoing disciplinary and criminal investigations. Lagos police have assured the public that justice will be served once investigations are concluded.
