Lagos State Government Emphasizes Importance of Blue Economy Growth

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has highlighted the significant opportunity for growth in the blue economy sector.
During a recent visit by the Senate Committee on Marine Transportation, led by Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, the governor expressed his gratitude to the committee for recognizing Lagos as a core hub for the blue economy. With 70% of blue economy activities taking place in Lagos, the governor emphasized the need for both the executive and legislature to unite in supporting and streamlining this dynamic sector.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended President Bola Tinubu for establishing the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, as well as the National Assembly for setting up a proper committee to oversee this vital sector. Recognizing the transformative potential of the blue economy, the governor urged for collaborative efforts to develop, supervise, and monitor economic activities in Lagos. By reducing bottlenecks and empowering businesses, the governor believes that the blue economy can thrive and contribute to the overall economic development of Lagos.
The focus on the blue economy in Lagos reflects the state government’s commitment to driving growth and harnessing the aquatic splendor of the region.
