Lagos State Launches Circular Economy Hotspot 2023

The Lagos State Government has launched the Circular Economy Hotspot 2023, aimed at promoting sustainable consumption and reducing waste. The project, which is a significant milestone in the state’s circular economy journey, was unveiled at a conference organized by the State Government in collaboration with Circular Economy Innovation Partnership (CEIP) and African Circular Economy Network. The dashboard will measure the implementation progress and help to ensure that the project is meeting its goals.

The launch event was attended by the Consular General of the Kingdom of Netherlands, Mr. Michael Deelen, who congratulated the Lagos State Government for being the first sub-national to embark on a circular economic project. He noted that it was time for Nigeria to have a change of perspective and expectations. The Netherlands has successfully implemented circular economy practices, and Lagos can learn from their experience to unlock new economic opportunities and reduce waste.
