Eight commercial lockup shops have been sealed on Dosunmu Street in Lagos Island by the Lagos State Government on the basis that there were storing firecrackers in unsafe conditions.
The shops were sealed to protect lives and property from fires and explosions, according to Gbenga Oyerinde, Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations.
Oyerinde reiterated the state government’s commitment to the protection of the lives and properties of Lagosians, noting that the safety of all residents in Lagos State is a top priority for the state government.
The Commissioner stated that the Lagos State Safety Commission, being one of the agencies under the Ministry, will continue to live up to its responsibilities by identifying unsafe conditions and mitigating them.
He noted that anyone or marketplaces found flagrantly violating safety rules will face the full weight of the law.
