Lidero Festival Day 5: Radanuwa Lays Foundation for Idado Unit of Sagamu Neighbourhood Watch Building

The fifth day of the Lidero Festival and Celebration was a grand success, with the Idado community and Sagamu at large coming out en masse to celebrate. On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the Radanuwa of Idado, Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, led prayers and blessings alongside his Olori and other esteemed chiefs, including Chief Braimoh, Otunba Olore, and Chief Mrs. Ola Sulaimon.
As part of the day’s activities, the leaders paid homage to community elders by visiting three prominent compounds: Pa Safiru’s compound, Baba Olayinka (Saula Jaiyeola)’s compound, and the residence of Chief Akinwale Olabode, Baba of Saint John Anglican Church, Ijokun.
A major highlight of the event was the laying of the foundation for the Sagamu Neighbourhood Watch building, Idado unit, by the Radanuwa. This building will serve as the coordinating point for all security issues in Idado and its environs, providing backup support to the Oja Oba head office and the Divisional Police Office in Sakora. The king seized the opportunity to appeal for support from all Remo sons and daughters to make this vision a reality.
The celebration continued in the afternoon at Saint Paul Primary School’s field on Aiyepe Road, with a funfair themed “Celebrating Tradition with Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The event featured activities such as bouncing castles, face painting, balloon twisting, and a tug-of-war, placing special emphasis on the children of Idado who paid homage to the king. Cultural dance performances by children’s troops and students from Ofin High School added to the vibrant atmosphere.
The day concluded with royal blessings and prayers from Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Chief Mrs. Oladapo Sulaimon, the Iya Ewe (Mother of the Children) of Idado.
