Lionel Messi to Miss MLS All-Stars Game Due to Lingering Injury

Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi will not participate in the upcoming MLS All-Stars Game, Major League Soccer (MLS) announced. This news comes just eight days after Messi was forced to leave the Copa America final match with an ankle injury, casting a shadow over his highly anticipated debut in the showcase event.

However, despite his absence, Messi’s impressive start to the 2024 season remains a testament to his enduring talent. The 37-year-old Argentine superstar has scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in his first 12 games, making him the fastest player to achieve 25 goal contributions in an MLS season.

Moreover, the MLS All-Stars Game, scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. EDT (0000 GMT) on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, will still feature a star-studded lineup representing 18 league clubs.
