Makinde Hosts Iftar for Oyo Islamic Community Representatives, Lauds Religious Harmony

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state on Thursday hosted representatives of the Islamic Community in Oyo state for Iftar (breaking of fast), where he appreciated them for their efforts and prayers to ensuring Peace in the state.

 

Governor Makinde at the event attended by Muslim leaders, scholars and political leaders, expressed appreciation to the Muslim community in the state for their support for his administration and called on them to continue to maintain decorum and live in peace with adherents of other religions in the state.

The Governor, who maintained that the state enjoys relative peace and tranquility which has become a reference point in the country, urged the Muslim leaders to use the opportunity of the holy month to offer fervent prayers to God to grant all their hearts’ desires as well as for peace and prosperity of Oyo State and Nigeria.

 

“We hosted representatives of the Muslim community in Oyo State for Iftar. I congratulated them on another successful conclusion of the fast during Ramadan.

I also thanked them for their support, especially during the campaign period when there were attempts to divide us along ethnic and religious lines” governor Makinde wrote in a tweet.
