Manchester United Shortlist Osimhen as Part of Top Strikers

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has made it onto Manchester United’s shortlist of four forwards as the club aims to enhance its attacking lineup this summer.

The Red Devils are contemplating moves in the transfer market after witnessing a lack of form from Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund this season. Zirkzee has managed only six goals in 44 competitive matches since his transfer from Bologna last summer, while Hojlund has recorded eight goals in 39 appearances across all competitions. Their struggles have contributed to Manchester United’s overall challenges in attack, with the team scoring just 37 goals in 29 Premier League matches, placing them behind 13 other teams in the league.

Journalist Florian Plettenburg has reported that Osimhen is one of four strikers under consideration by the club as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window.

Currently, Osimhen is on loan at Galatasaray, where he has enjoyed significant success, scoring 26 goals in 30 matches, including 20 in 22 league games, making him the leading scorer in the Super Lig. Although he is expected to return to Napoli this summer, a permanent departure ahead of the 2025/26 season seems likely.

Recent reports indicate that Osimhen is eager to join Manchester United, even amidst interest from other clubs, including French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
