Monitoring Educational Initiatives: RemoGDF Assesses After-Class Coaching Across Remoland
In a significant stride towards enhancing educational opportunities in Remoland, the Remo Growth and Development Foundation (RGDF) conducted a thorough monitoring exercise of its ongoing after-class coaching programs for Senior Secondary School three (SS3) students on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025. This initiative, a collaborative effort led by RGDF’s Education Committee and supported by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo of Remoland, embodies a strong commitment to fostering academic excellence and preparing students for future challenges.
The delegation comprised notable figures including Otunba Seni Adetu, Chairman of RGDF; Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Education and Chairman Education and Youth Empowerment(RGDF) ; Mrs. Matilda Olayinka Oyekan, Principal of Mayflower School, Ikenne; and other RGDF members. They visited several centers participating in this educational intervention: Remo Divisional High School in Sagamu, Remo Secondary School, Christ Apostolic Grammar School in Iperu, and Saapade Grammar School in Saapade. Students from various schools within Remoland were in attendance, highlighting the initiative’s expansive reach.
The after-class coaching program, which commenced a few months ago, is strategically scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays, offering SS3 students the crucial support they need as they prepare for their impending exams. Feedback from students underscores the program’s impact on their academic performance, with many expressing how the coaching sessions have ignited their interest in subjects they previously struggled with. The collaborative learning environment has not only equipped them with essential study skills but has also fostered a sense of community among peers from different schools.
In his remarks, Otunba Seni Adetu emphasized the program’s intent and gratitude towards the Akarigbo for his unwavering support. He articulated the vision of the initiative, stating, “We want to empower our students to excel academically, enabling them to represent Remo in diverse fields in the future.” He further announced the foundation’s commitment to recognizing outstanding performance, pledging to open additional centers and extend scholarships to students who achieve exemplary results, specifically those scoring 7 A’s in their exams.
Mrs. Ronke Soyombo highlighted the transformative initiatives undertaken by RGDF and the Ogun State Government, which emphasize integrating technology and hands-on learning methodologies into the educational framework. Her appreciation for the substantial turnout of students and the invaluable support from parents reflected a community united in the pursuit of academic advancement. She also expressed gratitude to the Akarigbo and the governance of RGDF for their collective efforts.
On behalf of the principals of participating schools, Mrs. Matilda Olayinka Oyekan articulated heartfelt thanks to the RGDF Education Committee for their innovative approach to education. She noted how the initiative has facilitated inter-school collaborations, allowing students from various backgrounds to learn collectively and enrich each other’s educational experiences.
Moreover, teachers from the different centers conveyed their sincere appreciation for the RGDF’s initiative. They emphasized how such programs empower them to impart knowledge effectively and engage more meaningfully with students, ultimately cultivating a richer learning environment.
