MORE LOVE, LESS EGO”
The world waits patiently for Grammy-award winning Nigerian Superstar, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, a.k.a. Wizkid to drop his fifth studio album on the 11th of November 2022, the album was before scheduled to be released on the 4th of November but shifted in honor of Ifeanyi Adeleke, Davido’s son who tragically passed away in a drowning incident at his mansion in Banana island on the 31st of October 2022.
The peculiarity in the naming of the album has left me intrigued, it is now common knowledge that musicians do not choose album titles out of the blues or randomly, it is often times done consciously, a product of personal reasons held dear.
This brings about the question, why? Why “More love, less Ego”? This question comes at the heels of the singer’s personality, which has been deemed Egoistic and proud by a lot of music fans, most especially the 30BG crew.
It would seem the musician once considered a big snub has finally broken through his ISFP personality type, thus becoming a better man, ISFP stands for, Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving.
Perhaps the controversial artiste has decided it is time for a turn around, to put to an end the era of “self” and embrace love in its purest form.
Whatever be the case, not only is the new change welcomed, it is much needed at this point when the world has suddenly grown short on love, atrocities, abnormalities and mindless killings becoming the order of the day.
It is commendable that an artiste who found it okay to spill drinks on fans some years back will do a 180 degrees turn and become a pioneer of love, preaching against the Narcissistic trait called ego.
The holla at your boy crooner is not alone in the advocacy for love, months back, Burna Boy had released his sixth studio album, and it was titled “love Damini”
His last track on the album details how loving he ought to be, expressing regrets at many good things he should have done but didn’t do, such as talking and spending more time with his grandfather and Late music icon sound sultan, before they died.
He goes on to enumerate on the changes he’s making and how he plans to do much more to become a “better man”.
This is a new wave that is sweeping through the entertainment industry, worthy of emulation by all, regardless of personal difference or the competition which exist among colleagues.
The Era of more love and less ego will usher in an extraordinary push in the Nigerian entertainment space, skyrocketing us to a level whereby we are on the same pedestal with the international communities.
