NCC Reiterates No Plans to Increase Telecom Tariff Due to Subsidy Removal

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reiterated that there are no plans to increase telecom tariff due to subsidy removal. This was related by the executive vice chairman, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, at the Titans of Tech award in Lagos over the weekend.
Danbatta stated that such a decision is left for the entire industry to determine, and there has to be a lot of engagement with stakeholders. The NCC runs a participative system of engagement and does a lot of industry consultation.
The director of Public Affairs of the commission, Mr Reuben Muoka, clinched the Digital Public Relations Communicator of the Year Award, while the Pan African Telecoms Operator of the Year was received by the Lagos Zonal controller of NCC, Mr Yomi Arowosafe, on behalf of the EVC.
