NDE Embarks On 3 Months Training Of Unemployed Youths In Ogun

The Ogun State government through the National Directorate of Employment has embarked on three months training of 60 unemployed youths in Ogun State on Environmental Beautification Training Scheme under the Special Public Works department of the Directorate.

Speaking at the flagging off ceremony in Abeokuta, NDE Director-General, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said the training was developed as part of the effort of NDE to empower unemployed people through acquisition of professional skills in environmental beautification, sanitation, and protection.

The Director-General who was represented by Ogun State Acting State Coordinator – Mrs. Oshinowo Ajoke, remarked that the scheme comprises Hard Landscaping, Soft Landscaping, Horticulture, Tilling, and Plaster of Paris (POP).

He further reiterated that each skill area will be anchored by different experienced resource individuals to ensure their proficiency at the end of the training period.

Congratulating the participants for being selected for the training, the DG said the programme is aimed at reducing the rate of unemployment in Nigeria and also for them to become self-reliant and employers of labour.

He said, “this training scheme is a step in the right direction, as it equips individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a positive impact in the country. It is also about instilling a sense of responsibility and self-dependence in each participant.
