NDLEA Destroys Indian Hemp Farm, Arrests Four Suspects in Ogun

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ogun State command has destroyed a six-hectare Indian hemp farm in Alaka village. The agency also arrested four suspects in connection with the illicit cultivation and is currently conducting investigations.

The state commandant, Tijani Rabe, disclosed this information during a press conference held in Abeokuta. Rabe highlighted the agency’s achievements in 2024, including the arrest of 675 drug offenders. The command also confiscated 9.7 tons of solid drugs and 537.81 litres of liquid-based illicit substances.

Rabe attributed the success of the agency’s efforts to “Operation Closed Gates,” a Yuletide strategy aimed at targeting drug merchants and syndicates. The operation effectively blocked access routes into the state, preventing the influx of illicit substances. “Operation Closed Gates was initiated as part of our Yuletide strategy and has yielded remarkable success,” Rabe explained. “It targeted drug merchants and syndicates, effectively blocking access routes into the state.”

In addition to enforcement efforts, the NDLEA also intensified its public awareness campaigns. The agency conducted 128 sensitisation programmes in schools, communities, and workplaces, reaching approximately 27,648 people.
