NFF Set to Name New Super Eagles Coach in April

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to announce a new head coach for the Super Eagles in April. Following the departure of Jose Peseiro last month, the NFF has been actively seeking a replacement to lead the three-time African champions. A range of local and expatriate coaches, including Emmanuel Amuneke, Sunday Oliseh, Finidi George, Daniel Amokachi, and Antonio Conceicao, have already thrown their hats into the ring for the coveted position.

The NFF is keen on ensuring that only the best candidate is selected to steer the Super Eagles to greater heights, especially with the World Cup qualifiers looming in three months. With the recent impressive performance of the Super Eagles, the federation is determined to maintain the positive momentum and is prioritizing the hiring of a coach with the requisite managerial expertise and experience to handle the talented squad effectively.

In the interim, Augustine Eguavoen, the NFF’s technical director, is expected to take charge of the team for the upcoming friendlies against the Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali later this month. The decision underscores the NFF’s commitment to maintaining stability and continuity within the team as they finalize the selection process for the new head coach.
