Nigeria Immigration Service Repatriates 22 Beninoise Nationals in Ogun State
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Ogun State Command has successfully repatriated 22 Beninoise nationals who were found to be residing illegally in various local government areas in Ogun State.
During a courtesy visit to the Ogun State House of Assembly on Monday, State Comptroller Grace Adeoye revealed that the command has been working tirelessly to address the issue of illegal immigration, which has been identified as a major threat to peace and security in the state.
Adeoye emphasized the need for increased collaboration between the NIS and the state government to enhance the service’s efforts in combating illegal immigration. She highlighted several success stories, including the recent repatriation of the 22 Beninoise nationals, as a proof of the command’s commitment to securing the state’s borders.
The Speaker of the House, Oludaisi Elemide, praised the NIS for its contributions to promoting peace and security in the state, particularly in border areas. He assured the service of the Assembly’s continued support and collaboration, acknowledging the significant improvements made in the issuance of Nigerian passports and other services provided by the agency.
Lawmakers Wahab Haruna, Fola Salami, and Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff commended the command’s achievements and urged the NIS to sustain its efforts in curbing illegal activities by aliens in border areas.
