NLC President, Joe Ajaero, Arrested by DSS Operatives

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday morning.
According to sources, Ajaero was taken into custody while en route to the United Kingdom, where he was scheduled to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London, commencing today.
Details surrounding the reasons for his arrest remain unclear at this time however, sources revealed that he has been handed over to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). Efforts to obtain further information from the DSS are ongoing.
Conversely, the Nation Labour Congress on its official X account after Ajaero’s arrest tweeted “The assault on Nigeria Workers continues, President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero was arrested and abducted by men of DSS at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport Abuja this morning on his way to attend an official engagement of TUC United Kingdom and he is now detained at the office of the NSA. The intimidation and assault must stop!”
