NPFL Expresses Solidarity with Doma United After Road Accident
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has expressed its support and sympathy for Doma United following a recent road accident involving the team.
In a statement issued by NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye, the league extended its heartfelt sympathies to Doma United’s chairman, Suleiman Umar, and the entire team. Elegbeleye conveyed his relief that the accident, which occurred along the Makurdi-Lafia road during heavy rain on Monday, did not result in any fatalities.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Doma United and the contingent at this very difficult time,” Elegbeleye said during a conversation with Umar. He emphasized the league’s concern for the well-being of the players and staff, wishing the injured a swift and full recovery. “On behalf of the NPFL Board and Management, I wish the injured persons speedy and full recovery, with the hope that they would return to action soon.”
The accident happened as the Savannah Tigers, Doma United’s team, were returning from Owerri. The bus skidded off the road due to the adverse weather conditions. Elegbeleye underscored the importance of safety for all teams and their supporters as the season draws to a close. “We are particularly relieved that there was no loss of lives in the accident, and we pray for the safety of all other teams and their fans as we gradually roll up the season,” he added.
